Comment 2 Ben Beasley 2023-06-16 14:45:21 UTC
This bug was correctly reported, since flatbuffers does bundle some grpc sources from a vulnerable version.

I have examined the grpc commit that fixes the CVE (https://github.com/grpc/grpc/commit/2485fa94bd8a723e5c977d55a3ce10b301b437f8), and confirmed that none of the files touched in that commit are bundled in flatbuffers. Furthermore, only the build-time test executable link the system-wide grpc package.

Based on that analysis, I am satisfied that flatbuffers is unaffected by CVE-2023-1428.
