Description ritz 2007-01-09 17:10:39 UTC
Description of problem:

runlevel 5 is hardcoded to start X as seen from inittab .
x:5:once:/etc/X11/prefdm -nodaemon

This does not allow me to restart X whithout switching to init mode 3, or using
killall command , or using ctrl+alt+backspace.

Additionally, this will allow X to be started early on before all the
"non-dependent" services start up.

Expected results:
Use a dm script to start X service.

Additional info:
Attached a dm script from mandriva.

Comment 2 Bill Nottingham 2007-01-09 17:14:05 UTC
This has been done before; it breaks for a variety of reasons, including script
ordering.

As we're not doing early-login at the moment, resolving.
