Description of problem:

Seems to be related to:

Bug 1580021 and Bug 1583845

Not possible to write audio CDs on fresh Fedora 38 install, using CD writer, writing audio CDs. Lacking wodim permissions/group handling.

Independent of the program in use (Brasero, or k3b)

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

1.1.11-51.fc38

How reproducible:

Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install Brasero
2. Select Audio CD, and click on burn
3. Error occurs, and disk get's ejected immediatly.

Actual results:

Not possible to write any kind of audio CD by default, without adjusting permissions

Expected results:

Just writing it fine without manual adjustments

Additional info:

Same as in Bug 1580021:

after

chmod u+s /usr/bin/wodim

it is working again (but this is somehow dangerous)

Strangewise, reduction to

chmod o-rwx /usr/bin/wodim
chgrp cdrom /usr/bin/wodim

is also not working, looks like the group membership "cdrom" isn't really used.

Reproduced on 2 systems
