Comment 1 Ben Beasley 2023-09-01 13:48:25 UTC
Just as a heads-up, FastAPI (python-fastapi) is lagging in supporting the versions of Starlette (python-starlette) that officially support anyio 4.

https://github.com/tiangolo/fastapi/pull/9939#issuecomment-1702766341

I maintain both packages in Fedora, but I’m not able to patch FastAPI for newer Starlette ahead of upstream in this case—the details are too complicated.

Comment 4 Ben Beasley 2024-01-28 19:12:42 UTC
It looks like I need this in Rawhide for Starlette 0.36.1. I can offer a PR. Before I start work:

- I would favor dropping and Obsoleting the -doc subpackage due to guidelines issues with Sphinx-generated HTML (see bug 2006555 and the linked mailing-list thread). Any objections? (Building PDF instead of HTML is also possible, but brings in heavy LaTeX BuildRequires.)
- Since this will be a new major version, any objection to dropping all conditionals for supporting releases before F40?
- Should I switch to rpmautospec or not?

Comment 5 Carl George 🤠 2024-02-07 15:55:16 UTC
Hey Ben, sorry it took me a little while to respond to this, I was traveling last week.

- I agree. Packaging docs doesn't seem to be worth the effort.
- Works for me.
- Either way is fine. I can see in the proposed PR you left this part out, so we can stick with that for now.

I'll comment further in the PR. Thanks for working on this.
