GNOME Shell Search no longer displays any results from Firefox. An earlier bug with Firefox results opening an empty window was fixed in version 114, but between then and now (117), Firefox's search provider has broken again. This time, the Firefox search widget fails to appear completely. I tested this bug with fresh install of Fedora 38 in a VM, running automatic updates (including Firefox and the kernel). I kept Firefox open, as it must be open to show search results, and I confirmed Firefox had search permissions in GNOME Settings, and browser.gnome-search-provider.enabled was set to true (by default) in about:config. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open a firefox window 2. Enter Activities 3. Type a search Actual Results: No Firefox widget appeared in the search results. Expected Results: A Firefox widget should appear in the search results. I am running Firefox 117.0. It identifies itself as "Firefox for Fedora" and is the default rpm installation.
Same here. And can see some error logs Received error from D-Bus search provider firefox.desktop: Gio.DBusError: GDBus.Error:org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceUnknown: The name is not activatable Seems somethinng wrong with D-bus. I Checked with D-spy but can see org.mozilla.firefox.SearchProvider is running.
I also opened an issue in the Mozilla bugzilla: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1851393
Will be fixed by next Firefox update - 118.0-2
Should be fixed by firefox-118.0.1-4 builds
