If you pick a different locale on the g-i-s front page, quite often it still selects English (US) - translated into the native language for whatever locale you picked, of course - as the default keyboard on the second page. I've seen this with both Russian and French in casual testing. If you go back to the first page, change language to English then back again to the language you want to test and proceed once more to the keyboard page, sometimes it'll work on that second try. This is with gnome-initial-setup-45~beta-7.fc39. Not sure if the fix in -8 would affect this. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1. Boot a recent Fedora Workstation live. 2. Pick any locale other than English (US) on the first page. 3. Check whether the correct default keyboard for the locale is selected on the second page. Actual Results: Sometimes, English (US) - translated as appropriate - is the default choice. Expected Results: The correct local keyboard should be selected.
This isn't critical, but it would be *nice* if we can fix it for Beta.
Have you perhaps reported an upstream bug, Adam? (I haven't found it). Or are gnome devs paying attention to this report?
downstream is right. the feature hasn't landed upstream yet.

Discussed in ticket: https://pagure.io/fedora-qa/blocker-review/issue/1293 The decision to classify this bug as an AcceptedFreezeException was made: "This problem affects the installation process and so it's impossible to fix post release."
As webUI has been deferred to F40 and this bug is webUI-specific, deferring blocker/FE status for this bug.
The update landed, and I just tried this a couple of times and it didn't fail, so let's say it's good.
