Here are the release notes:

https://discuss.ocaml.org/t/ocaml-5-1-1-released/13592

It seems like an important bug fix release, worth getting into Rawhide.
There's a breaking change but it seems minor.

Comment 7 Jerry James 2023-12-11 16:27:29 UTC
These two packages need to be upgraded along with ocaml 5.1.1, due to close dependencies on the exact ocaml compiler version:
- ocaml-merlin 4.13.1
- ocaml-version 3.6.3

In addition, we should take the opportunity to update ocaml-yojson to version 2.1.2, which will fix its Modern C build failure. That update will require rebuilding all consuming packages, so doing it along with an ocaml update seems like a good idea.

I can open PRs for all of these if that would be helpful, but I think all of them involve simply changing the version number in the spec file and downloading the new tarball.

Comment 8 Richard W.M. Jones 2023-12-11 19:25:48 UTC
It'd be great to have PRs. I can do the rebuild some time this week.

Comment 10 Richard W.M. Jones 2023-12-11 22:16:23 UTC
New side tag created (please don't do builds here, I will do them soon):

Side tag 'f40-build-side-79351' (id 79351) created.
Use 'fedpkg build --target=f40-build-side-79351' to use it.
Use 'koji wait-repo f40-build-side-79351' to wait for the build repo to be generated.

Comment 11 Richard W.M. Jones 2023-12-12 09:04:49 UTC
Building has started, see:

Interestingly both libnbd & guestfs-tools test suites fail (infinite loop)
with this new version of OCaml.
