Red Hat Satellite engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on Satellite to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "Satellite project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs will be migrated starting at the end of May. If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "Satellite project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/SAT-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Satellite 6.11 is also impacted

Comment 13 arivera 2023-09-22 14:36:22 UTC
I discovered that if you remove openscap after the upgrade run fails, and then try the upgrade run again Satellite will complete the upgrade successfully.
Hope that helps in the short term if you have problems restoring from backup/snapshot or actually forgot to do both.

I should have explained better. yum remove openscap after the upgrade run fails, and then try again.

Comment 17 Alex 2023-09-22 19:23:21 UTC
I can confirm what arivera wrote. Removing openscap and re-running the upgrade completes successfully.

Comment 18 Lukas Pramuk 2023-09-25 11:02:48 UTC
VERIFIED.

@Satellite 6.13.5 Snap1
rubygem-openscap-0.4.9-9.el8sat.noarch

by the following manual reproducer:

1) Upgrade across 6.13.z (while being on RHEL8.8.z)
# satellite-maintain upgrade run --target-version 6.13.z -y
...
Upgrade finished.

# rpm -q openscap
openscap-1.3.8-1.el8_8.x86_64

>>> upgrade finished successfully and latest openscap rpm is installed

Comment 19 matthew.norwood 2023-09-25 14:00:50 UTC
The upgrade still has the same error, when will the fix be promoted?

I can't speak by Engineering, but the bug is verified and planned to be released as a hotfix or a z-stream fix. So I would say "soon".

If you need a workaround procedure, let follow https://access.redhat.com/solutions/7034031 .
