Red Hat Satellite engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on Satellite to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "Satellite project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs will be migrated starting at the end of May. If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "Satellite project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/SAT-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Description Stefan Nemeth 2023-09-21 08:20:23 UTC
Description of problem:

ansible-collections repository can sync to capsule, but url misses /api endpoint so it is not possible to use capsule as local ansible-galaxy (you can do it with satellite)

Example setting in asible.cfg
[galaxy]
server_list = satellite
[galaxy_server.satellite]
url = https://snemeth-satellite6.sysmgmgmt.lan/pulp_ansible/galaxy/TME/Library/custom/redhat_ansible_collections/redhat_collections/api/

Repository path on capsule
https://10.37.195.5/pulp/content/TME/production/rhel8-ansible-galaxy/custom/redhat_ansible_collections/redhat_collections/
Repository path on satellite
https://snemeth-satellite6.sysmgmgmt.lan/pulp_ansible/galaxy/TME/Library/custom/redhat_ansible_collections/redhat_collections/api/

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

How reproducible:

100%

Steps to Reproduce:
1.create product, content -> products -> redhat ansible collections

2.new repository for ansible collections,

Upstream URL:  https://console.redhat.com/api/automation-hub/

3. sync to capsule

Actual results:

https://capsule6.sysmgmgmt.lan/pulp_ansible/galaxy/TME/Library/custom/redhat_ansible_collections/redhat_collections/

Expected results:

https://capsule6.sysmgmgmt.lan/pulp_ansible/galaxy/TME/Library/custom/redhat_ansible_collections/redhat_collections/api/

Bulk setting Target Milestone = 6.15.0 where sat-6.15.0+ is set.

Comment 13 Ian Ballou 2023-12-12 22:38:41 UTC
Closing this issue as not a bug since Ansible content should be consumed from the ".../pulp_ansible/galaxy/.../api" endpoint rather than from the ".../pulp/content/.../api" endpoint. Ansible galaxy content consumption on 6.13 and 6.14 capsules have both been tested and nothing appears out of the ordinary. If any user is still facing ansible collection consumption issues from smart proxies, feel free to reopen this bugzilla.

A separate BZ has been created relating to the "Log in" button on the Satellite's ansible galaxy page: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2253329

Another BZ has been created to improve the documentation: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2254262

Here is my raw ansible collection consumption test on Satellite Capsule 6.13:
