Fedora 38 thunderbird-102.13.0-1.fc38.x86_64 Thunderbird 102 is going out of support in a week. Please consider upgrading to the current version. See https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1821578#c3 Reproducible: Always
Meanwhile there's thunderbird-102.15.1-1.fc38 https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2023-a7aba7e1b0 Not sure whether we'll do a rebase to 115.* in f38, last time we did that we got angry voices because of doing a rebase in a release without FESCo exception, so it might depend on that.

I'm just a happy user of Thunderbird, I don't know anything about internal policies. :-) In July, when the build of thunderbird-115.0.1-1.fc38 (x86_64) first appeared in koji, I made a backup of my Thunderbird profile (just in case things go wrong) and tried the 115 branch just out of curiosity. It's so great. Yes, sure, the GUI looks very different, and at first I was a little bit upset. Users may have to adapt their settings so that they get a proper look & feel for their needs. But truth is, that's done in a couple of minutes and then you're happy. Regarding technical features, I haven't noticed much of a difference. Works all the same like before, whatever way you may want to look at it, positive or negative. Although the big bump in the version number may suggest differently, it's not really that big of an update. But I'm no expert here, maybe it's all different under the hood and the upgrade was just so smooth that I haven't noticed all the big improvements and changes. Anyway, to make it short, I wouldn't want to go back, I really like to stay with Thunderbird 115, although now it worries me a little bit that there are no updates since July. However, with Fedora 39 to be released by the end of this month, then I'll have Thunderbird 115 by default. But still would be nice to have official updates for 115 on Fedora 38 until then. That's all just my opinion. Keep up the good work!

You can add negative karma at https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2023-1f5f7b9b92. Iām neither a maintainer of this package nor an expert in all the ways Thunderbird can break, but do you have any idea whether this is related to whether or not you are in a Wayland session or an X11 one, and whether you launch thunderbird or thunderbird-wayland? Any other clues as to what might be happening? The update seems to work fine for me on a GNOME/Wayland session, using either the Wayland or the non-Wayland launcher.
thunderbird-115.3.1-1.fc38 (x86_64) works great here, running in a X11 session. However, please note, I've already did my big jump from 102.* to 115.* with a previous build from koji (thunderbird-115.0.1-1). That worked fine, no blank content area after the update. Btw, I have no Add-ons (Extensions) or additional Themes installed. Because of the significant changes in the GUI, it may help to go to "Customize..." (right-click in most blank areas) and then do "Restore default" for all personalized GUI settings. Especially if there are Add-ons (Extensions) or additional Themes active that do changes to the GUI.
Works well for me in test environment. F38, X11, fvwm3, Provider for Exchange Active Sync, TbSync plus about 15 other plugins. Hope it will appear also in updates repo soon. Thanks for doing this rebase, it is what I was waiting for...
FEDORA-2023-1f5f7b9b92 has been pushed to the Fedora 38 stable repository. If problem still persists, please make note of it in this bug report.
Figured out a work around to the blank screen message area on 115. Start it in safe mode once and then regular mode will work fine bash -c "LC_TIME=C /usr/bin/thunderbird --safe-mode %u"
That blank message area may have been what 115.3.2 fixes as "Thunderbird attempted to load accounts missing server hostname, causing blank 3-pane window" https://www.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/115.3.2/releasenotes/ https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1854064
