Description Nicolas Chauvet (kwizart) 2023-09-29 13:58:59 UTC
While building the current mpv with mujs suppport for x86_64 (only) in rawhide
I'm experiencing the following build error:

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. rfpkg build mpv (with mujs re-enabled)
2.
3.
Actual Results:
/usr/bin/ld: /usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-redhat-linux/13/../../../../lib64/libmujs.a(libmujs.o): warning: relocation against `stdout@@GLIBC_2.2.5' in read-only section `.text'
/usr/bin/ld: /usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-redhat-linux/13/../../../../lib64/libmujs.a(libmujs.o): relocation R_X86_64_PC32 against symbol `stdout@@GLIBC_2.2.5' can not be used when making a shared object; recompile with -fPIC

Expected Results:
Build should succeed

mpv is currently building with mujs disabled on rawhide because of this...

Comment 1 Nicolas Chauvet (kwizart) 2023-09-29 14:19:08 UTC
Side note:
reproducible with current rawhide (mujs 1.3.3).
not reproducible with mujs 1.3.2 from currently f39

Comment 2 Nicolas Chauvet (kwizart) 2023-09-29 22:00:28 UTC
I've managed to workaround the mpv build by tagging 1.3.2 in override of the side-tag...

Comment 3 Fedora Update System 2023-09-30 09:18:34 UTC
FEDORA-2023-a7cc85ec4a has been submitted as an update to Fedora 40. https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2023-a7cc85ec4a

Comment 4 Fedora Update System 2023-09-30 09:19:43 UTC
FEDORA-2023-a7cc85ec4a has been pushed to the Fedora 40 stable repository.
If problem still persists, please make note of it in this bug report.

Bonjour Nicolas
You brought to my attention the fact mujs-devel shipped the static lib only.
I modified the .spec and submitted a build (1.3.3-2) hoping this will solve your issue.

Let me know if it is (or not) the case.
