When upgrading from F38 to F39 when having the kitty package installed the upgraded to F39 fails. I have been able to reproduce on my machine and on a fresh F38 install. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Install fresh, updated Fedora 38 Install 2.Install the kitty package 3.Attempt to upgrade with `sudo dnf system-upgrade download --releasever=39` Actual Results: dnf fails with Error: Transaction test error: file /usr/bin/kitten from install of kitty-0.30.0-1.fc39.x86_64 conflicts with file from package kitty-kitten-0.29.2-5.fc38.x86_64 Expected Results: The dnf system-upgrade is successful.
A workaround is to remove the kitty package then the error is resolved.
This should be fixed in https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2023-ab43e2ce21 (This change https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/kitty/c/4af571a739237731d4866203e5977b629e52de1c?branch=rawhide doesn't hit stable f39 repos because of the final freeze). Try updating with --enablerepo=\*ing. I'll try to propose this update as a freeze exception.
Proposed as a Freeze Exception for 39-final by Fedora user solopasha using the blocker tracking app because: https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2023-ab43e2ce21 Fixes FTI when updating f38->f39.
Discussed during the 2023-10-30 blocker review meeting: [0] The decision to classify this bug as an "AcceptedFreezeException (Final)" was made to prevent problems for early upgraders; it's not an important package so can't really break anything important. unfortunately I can't mark the update as fixing this bug because bodhi is mad about something - possibly the side tag the update was created from has been garbage collected?
Yes, I also tried to add this bug to the update yesterday without success. I didn't delete the side tag myself.
The update was included in RC-1.4, so marking this ON_QA.
...in fact we pushed the update stable, so this should be good now.
