1.Start GNOME Shell with the applet installed.
2.
3.

Applet fails to start

Expected Results:
Applet starts and reports weather

Comment 1 Dmitry Burstein 2023-11-08 01:26:44 UTC
I second that. Checking in "/usr/share/gnome-shell/extensions/openweather-extension/metadata.json" reveals that only "shell-version"(s) 43 and 44 are present - no 45.

Comment 2 Hin-Tak Leung 2023-11-30 23:30:00 UTC
Yes, see the same problem. Although after editing the file by hand as root myself, I am seeing https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2230704 when I try to enable it, I think. So I am heading over there now.

Comment 3 Russell Odom 2023-12-04 14:37:35 UTC
According to comments on https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/750/openweather/ there is a fork of this which has been updated for GNOME 45: https://github.com/toppk/gnome-shell-extension-openweather. The original (https://gitlab.com/skrewball/openweather) has had no commits for 7 months. Can we switch the package to the new repo?

Comment 4 Michal Jaegermann 2023-12-06 22:02:55 UTC
After rebuilding a "local" rpm from sources at https://github.com/toppk/gnome-shell-extension-openweather (git 9117377) and updating with that openweather extension works again on fc39. If this still leaks memory, as reported in bug #2238337, I cannot tell.

Comment 5 Russell Odom 2023-12-22 10:04:52 UTC
Ignore my comment 3; the project has a new maintainer (the author of the fork has taken over). Doesn't seem to be an updated release yet though.
