Hello, I tried to install a VM with Fedora 38 and "Fedora Workstation" environment group and do a system-upgrade to Fedora 39, but the "bash-color-prompt" package got installed. What method did you use to upgrade your system from Fedora 38 to 39? When doing system-upgrade, the groups should be upgraded, but the groups are not upgraded for example when doing offline-upgrade or offline-distrosync commands. If you used the system-upgrade command, can you share the logs from that? You can use `dnf system-upgrade log --number=-1` to show the last log from system-upgrade.

And I upgraded my daily system using Gnome Software too. Thus I suspect the culprit is there.
I suspect Gnome Software uses PackageKit for upgrades and it doesn't use the dnf system-upgrade plugin. And since group upgrades were only recently added to system-upgrade ( https://github.com/rpm-software-management/dnf-plugins-extras/commit/222f6f8263854edd230c2f5818d83706299886a0 ), the same change wasn't done in PackageKit. As a workaround, you can upgrade all groups manually.

Raised the severity to "high" because: 1- this issue prevent users to get some new features advertised in release notes 2- there is no more a proper workaround for this issue (no more "Fedora Workstation" group), thus one must now manually check all the changes between releases and apply all changes by hand.
The dnf syntax changed with DNF5. Groups (or should I say "environments") are there. Thus I can sync my installation with Workstation. And I'm missing more than I thought: - gnome-epub-thumbnailer - ibus-chewing - intel-vsc-firmware - ptyxis The good news is there is a workaround with F41!
