Description Racheli Aizik 2023-11-16 15:42:11 UTC
Description of problem (please be detailed as possible and provide log
snippests):
While attempting to retrieve a cephfilesystem's data pool that matches the requested profile's device class, the error in case of failure isn't captured properly and gets skipped.

Version of all relevant components (if applicable):
4.14 fusion hci

Does this issue impact your ability to continue to work with the product
(please explain in detail what is the user impact)?
Reconciliation of SCR will go through when it shouldn't

Is there any workaround available to the best of your knowledge?
Yes

Rate from 1 - 5 the complexity of the scenario you performed that caused this
bug (1 - very simple, 5 - very complex)?
1

Can this issue reproducible?
Yes

Can this issue reproduce from the UI?
-

If this is a regression, please provide more details to justify this:
-

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Generate a profile with a blank device class
2. Generate a set of valid profiles (with a non-empty device class)
3. Generate a storage cluster with a valid profile from (2)
4. Generate a claim with the profile set to the name of (1)

Actual results:
A matching data pool will not be found and yet the reconciliation of storage class request (SCR) will resume.

Expected results:
StorageClassClaim is stuck at Configuring phase and no matching requests are generated to accompany it.

Comment 5 Racheli Aizik 2023-12-18 13:56:27 UTC
Verified the detailed expected results w/ @ammahapa. As a follow up, need to look at the behavior post editing the claim with a valid profile name and see that the phase transitions to Ready as expected, though that is out of scope as far as this bug goes (i.e., in case of failure a new bug will be opened).
