Xorg.0.log from sysreport

Comment 5 Adam Jackson 2007-03-01 17:54:41 UTC
Assuming X works under non-Xen kernel (the report doesn't say), this is almost
always Xen's fault. dom0 kernel _should_ act indistinguishably from a non-Xen
kernel. When it doesn't it's almost always because of a bug in Xen.

The log file from the sysreport indicates that X is starting up correctly. If
you have a log from running X under a non-dom0 kernel, that might show some
differences that would hint at the problem.

Xorg without xen kernel

This is the Xorg log from the running kernel
Linux edgar.usersys.redhat.com 2.6.19-1.2911.fc6 #1 SMP Sat Feb 10 15:51:47 EST
2007 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux

Comment 7 Adam Jackson 2007-03-01 20:39:10 UTC
I'm sorry, that log is from a run with fglrx. Could you please provide a log
for a successful startup with the radeon X driver and a non-Xen kernel?

Xorg log

Here's another Xorg log with the radeon X driver.
Linux eteo.sin.redhat.com 2.6.19-1.2911.fc6 #1 SMP Sat Feb 10 15:51:47 EST 2007

Same Computer, smp Kernel, radeon driver

Just switched... so the lastlog is a startup with the radeon driver

Comment 10 Adam Jackson 2007-03-05 19:22:13 UTC
Erk, embarassing. The log from the sysreport was _also_ from a non-Xen kernel.
Which means I should have asked for a log from attempting to start X under a
dom0 kernel. (Boot dom0, start X, then either scp the log file off, or reboot
into single user mode and copy the log somewhere before doing 'telinit 5'. The
"Current operating system" line should mention the word 'xen' in the kernel
version string.)

Xorg log file from a running xen kernel

A diff shows:
-(II) LoadModule: "int10"
-(II) Loading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/libint10.so
-(II) Module int10: vendor="X.Org Foundation"
+(II) LoadModule: "int10"(II) Switching to x86 real mode emulator
+(II) Loading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/libintxen.so
+(II) Module intxen: vendor="X.Org Foundation"

Next: No monitor was detected. No screens were found. This is, why X does not
start up, but why the screen remains black? (Console switching is not working)

Comment 12 Matěj Cepl 2007-12-10 09:21:53 UTC
Fedora Core 6 is no longer supported, could you please reproduce this with the
updated version of the currently supported distribution (Fedora 7, 8, or
Rawhide)? If this issue turns out to still be reproducible, please let us know
in this bug report. If after a month's time we have not heard back from you, we
will have to close this bug as CANTFIX.

Setting status to NEEDINFO, and awaiting information from the reporter.

[This is mass-filed message to all open Fedora Core 6 bugs related to Xorg or
Gecko. If you see any other reason, why this bug shouldn't be closed, please,
comment on it here.]

This problem does not exist anymore for me in fedora 8 (7 too, afaik)
