Created attachment 2018186 [details] screenshot of an issue Description is a quote of something i posted on rocky bugtracker. Which turned to be issue in epel. Description of problem: Greetings. After fresh install of xfce version of Rocky 9.3 there is one single non-translated category in applications menu. It has a translation, but it looks for file named Directory.desktop in folder /usr/share/desktop-directory There is no file with such name there on rocky, yet it has file xfce-documentation.directory Which contains ALL translations for this category. So i did "sudo cp xfce-documentation.directory Documentation.directory" and i got my translation*. Please, do copy too in official distro, or make a symlink. Having single one application not translated is a big ugly. And since there is no file, i suppose all non-EN locales see it a "Documentation" in English instead of translation. Especially it says only "About Xfce" entry (which is translated itself too. I asked xfce people on irc and they said they dont even support this translation and even gave me link to sources. So its not xfce bug, or please tell me what to say to xfce about this, if its "not in rocky". (rhel doesnt have xfce version, so its probably not upstream issue) *- I also edited format. For some reason it has its description (icon and category) below all translations. I made file looking like other ones in that folder (description aboce translarions) + removed line with UTF8 since others dont have it. In any case not having a file is the main issue here even if it dont like formatting too. PS: XFCE said they dont even support this category. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): How reproducible: Set non EN gui language Steps to Reproduce: 1. Set non EN gui 2. Restart 3. Open applications menu Actual results: Untranslated "Documentation" category in Applications menu Expected results: Translated one Additional info:
Also i edited icon to be applications-other, just like on screenshot ive just attached. Because this looks more like documentation icon than the one is used actually (some lifeline icon). IMO applications-other is much more apropriate icon for documentation, than actual documentation icon. So this is also a feature request - please use "applications-other" icon (as used on screenshot attached to this bug)
This issue is actually in component "garcon" - please move to correct component.
Here is quote from epel irc, where one nice guy said issue it in garcon-4.18-fedora-menus.patch <bleve> Same issue seem to be there in fedora. <bleve> it looks like there is a file which should be copied to different name <bleve> and destination filename is just not there. <bleve> Yes. rename of xfce-documentation.directory to Documentation.directory is fedora patch. <bleve> but they forgot to rename the file. <bleve> garcon-4.18-fedora-menus.patch add that Documentation.directory to list. <bleve> I just tracket bug down back to 2011
