Description of problem: With libcupsfilters-2.0.0-6.fc39 I can no longer use my Epson L3160 network printer in driverless mode. Every time I try to print, I see these errors: Feb 28 15:08:29 fedoratest cupsd[4907]: REQUEST localhost - - "POST / HTTP/1.1" 200 342 Create-Printer-Subscriptions successful-ok Feb 28 15:08:31 fedoratest cupsd[4907]: REQUEST localhost - - "POST / HTTP/1.1" 200 3406092 CUPS-Get-PPDs - Feb 28 15:08:32 fedoratest cupsd[4907]: REQUEST localhost - - "POST / HTTP/1.1" 200 150 Cancel-Subscription successful-ok Feb 28 15:08:41 fedoratest cupsd[4907]: REQUEST localhost - - "POST / HTTP/1.1" 200 249 CUPS-Create-Local-Printer successful-ok Feb 28 15:08:49 fedoratest cupsd[4907]: REQUEST localhost - - "POST /printers/EPSON_L3160_Series HTTP/1.1" 200 4162 Print-Job successful-ok Feb 28 15:08:52 fedoratest cupsd[4907]: [Job 13] Print job canceled at printer. In a default installation, without any configuration, I can open gnome-control-center -> Printers and see my printer. Then open gnome-text-editor, input a few characters and print it, it works fine. Once I update libcupsfilters to 2.0.0-6 and restart cups.service or reboot, I can still see the printer, but printing no longer works with the error message shown above. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): libcupsfilters-2.0.0-6.fc39 # broken libcupsfilters-2.0.0-2.fc39 # works fine How reproducible: always Steps to Reproduce: 1. clean install of F39 Workstation 2. open gnome-text-editor, input a few characters, open the print dialog 3. select my printer, it shows up fine 4. try to print 5. no visual error, but "Print job canceled at printer" in system journal
Hi Kamil, thank you for reporting the issue! Can you upload information from https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/quick-docs/cups-debug-printing-issues/#_my_printer_doesnt_print_correctly_i_use_everywhere_model for libcupsfilters-2.0.0-6 and libcupsfilters-2.0.0-2? There was fix for b&w printing - if AirPrint was used for generating PPD for b&w printer, colored file was created, so when sent to b&w printer, the job gets cancelled. It might cause regression.
