Copy of the message on my screen when I try to run and work with my favorite text editotr for LaTeX

I used to be working with the text editor Kile for LaTex,
it works perfectly on Fedora 39,
but now the same version of kile(2.9.93) cannot work with fedora 40.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

Kile 2.9.93
How reproducible:
1.It's impossible to start it,
because we have the message that you can read on the joined picture of my screen,
when I try to work with Kile.

Comment 1 Kevin Kofler 2024-03-06 23:15:31 UTC
So Okular was silently upgraded to a KF6 version, breaking Kile which expects a KF5 OkularPart.

Applications shipping commonly used KParts (Okular, Konsole, Kate, …) should always come with a compat package when upgrading them to a new major version using a new major Qt/KF version, and the subpackages for the KParts should always be versioned so that dependent packages will keep using the same version even if the main application is upgraded to a new one.

Comment 2 Kevin Kofler 2024-04-18 13:29:52 UTC
Looks like the best course of action is to upgrade Kile to 2.9.94 (3.0b4), which is now KF6-based.

I still think it sucks that no compat KF5 OkularPart is available in the repository, but that will at least work around the issue for Kile (since it is clear that the Okular maintainers do not give a darn).

Comment 6 Aoife Moloney 2025-04-25 10:19:42 UTC
This message is a reminder that Fedora Linux 40 is nearing its end of life.
Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora Linux 40 on 2025-05-13.
It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer
maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a
'version' of '40'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, change the 'version'
to a later Fedora Linux version. Note that the version field may be hidden.
Click the "Show advanced fields" button if you do not see it.

Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not
able to fix it before Fedora Linux 40 is end of life. If you would still like
to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version
of Fedora Linux, you are encouraged to change the 'version' to a later version
prior to this bug being closed.

Comment 7 Aoife Moloney 2025-05-16 07:57:56 UTC
Fedora Linux 40 entered end-of-life (EOL) status on 2025-05-13.

Fedora Linux 40 is no longer maintained, which means that it
will not receive any further security or bug fix updates. As a result we
are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of Fedora Linux
please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. Note that the version
field may be hidden. Click the "Show advanced fields" button if you do not see
the version field.

If you are unable to reopen this bug, please file a new report against an
active release.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
