Created attachment 2026890 [details] back out https://github.com/FRRouting/frr/pull/14957 to work with NetworkManager again Unfortunately the release notes for 10.0 <https://frrouting.org/release/10.0/> list "noprefixroute flag for interface prefixes with NetworkManager" as a "Breaking change", linking to <https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/NetworkManager/NetworkManager/-/issues/1452>. frr and NetworkManager have different, incompatible, interpretations of "noprefixroute". <https://github.com/FRRouting/frr/pull/14957> is the change, in response to <https://github.com/FRRouting/frr/issues/14952>. This patch simply restores the old behaviour, perhaps not ideal in the long term but it allows me to keep using NetworkManager with frr for now.
Hi, this is tricky. I don't think I understand the issue well enough to say who is right here. It would also be tricky to introduce a patch that would revert the new behavior, because it would have to be maintained across next releases and who knows when it would be the right time to remove it and allow the 'broken' behavior. I think this would be good to actually bring up with FRR Upstream and try to reason with them. I am not sure how to resolve this at the moment. Regards, Michal Ruprich

Hi, I just wanted to let you know that I did not forget about this. I will be starting with the rebase soon. And I was discussing this issue with folks from NM and kernel and the agreement is that the interpretation of NOPREFIXROUTE in FRR is not correct. So I will most likely be doing the rebase with your suggested change. Regards, Michal
