Doc Text:
MGR logs now do not report false errors for orphan events Previously, while applying service specifications, cephadm creates a progress event for the daemons to be added or deleted from the hosts. The progress event is initialized if progress_total is greater than 0, but at the end, cephadm tried to mark the progress event as complete/fail even though the progress event was not initialized. As a result, MGR logs were flooded with “[progress WARNING root] complete: ev <event-id> does not exist” errors. With this fix, progress events are marked as complete/fail only if they are initialized and the MGR logs no longer report errors for orphan events.

Description Varuni Sawant 2024-04-17 11:02:39 UTC
Description of problem:
The mgr progress logs give the following warnings intermittently:
Apr 4 11:12:15 s-f-000000x-s ceph-e99ca379-3116-4f6f-8643-6bd8c38408bc-mgr-s-f-000000x-s[318326]: debug 2024-04-04T09:12:15.463+0000 7f88d0648700 0 [progress WARNING root] complete: ev 1d6529e1-5d06-473e-af38-f01c5ca7475f does not exist

These warnings seems to be only reporting event does not exist for the events which are completed in the past

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
ceph version 16.2.10-160.el8cp (6977980612de1db28e41e0a90ff779627cde7a8c) pacific (stable)

Ask:
Is there some way to suppress these warnings without turning off the progress module, as these warnings are creating a lot of noise in CU's environment
