Description Andre Robatino 2024-04-18 21:10:44 UTC
Two issues:

1) Currently need to disable extension version validation, trivial to fix.

2) Once I've disabled extension version validation so the extension can run, it just says "Loading". Never actually runs even with my previously saved settings. Worked fine in F39.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Clean install of F40 Workstation, then install gnome-shell-extension-openweather-121-6.fc40.noarch.
2. Disable extension version validation with dconf-editor.
Actual Results:
Just says "Loading".

Expected Results:
Should run normally.

Comment 1 Andre Robatino 2024-04-21 15:09:47 UTC
AFAICT the latest upstream version is at https://github.com/toppk/gnome-shell-extension-openweather and that has not been updated to GNOME 46 either. I tried installing it directly from git and it behaves the same.

Works now, thanks! Gave karma for F40.

Comment 6 Andre Robatino 2024-04-21 20:16:42 UTC
Just noticed that the line with times for sunrise, sunset, and time since last refresh is no longer visible. See the image at https://fedoramagazine.org/weather-updates-openweather-gnome-shell-extension/ . Not sure if that change was intentional. Also, the "About" tab in Settings says "OpenWeather Version 122" which is different from the Fedora package Version, but I believe that was also the case in F39, not sure what the version is supposed to be.

Comment 7 Andre Robatino 2024-04-22 10:18:09 UTC
Not sure if I should file a new bug since it's basically working now with just that one missing line (assuming it's a mistake). Since this bug is still open, I changed the Summary and unset the Severity.

Comment 8 Andre Robatino 2024-05-06 19:21:35 UTC
I switched to OpenWeather Refined from https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/6655/openweather/ which appears to be the currently maintained version and has the missing line for sunrise, sunset, and last refresh.

Comment 9 Fedora Admin user for bugzilla script actions 2025-02-23 01:40:40 UTC
This package has changed maintainer in Fedora. Reassigning to the new maintainer of this component.

Comment 10 Aoife Moloney 2025-04-25 10:27:46 UTC
This message is a reminder that Fedora Linux 40 is nearing its end of life.
Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora Linux 40 on 2025-05-13.
It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer
maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a
'version' of '40'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, change the 'version'
to a later Fedora Linux version. Note that the version field may be hidden.
Click the "Show advanced fields" button if you do not see it.

Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not
able to fix it before Fedora Linux 40 is end of life. If you would still like
to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version
of Fedora Linux, you are encouraged to change the 'version' to a later version
prior to this bug being closed.

Comment 11 Aoife Moloney 2025-05-16 08:06:35 UTC
Fedora Linux 40 entered end-of-life (EOL) status on 2025-05-13.

Fedora Linux 40 is no longer maintained, which means that it
will not receive any further security or bug fix updates. As a result we
are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of Fedora Linux
please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. Note that the version
field may be hidden. Click the "Show advanced fields" button if you do not see
the version field.

If you are unable to reopen this bug, please file a new report against an
active release.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
