Fedora 40 Installer won't start on LXDE Spin. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Try to start Fedora Installer, run desktop icon. Actual Results: Nothing happens. Installation of Fedora 40 LXDE Spin not possible.
Tested LXDE Respin 2024.05.01: issue persist. https://dl.fedoraproject.org/pub/alt/live-respins/F40-LXDE-x86_64-LIVE-20240501.iso The problem is that if in LXDE spin run Fedora installer in terminal there is no any output. I thought maybe this could relate to WM which new Fedora installed don't like but LXQt Spin also using Openbox by default and it doesn't have this issue.
Looks like when * open a terminal like "$ lxterminal" on Live image * get root as "$ sudo su -" * execute installer as root as "# anaconda --liveinst --graphical" Then installer (anaconda) is working as expected. On the other hand, when executing * open a terminal like "$ lxterminal" on Live image * as normal user, execute "$ liveinst" Then liveinst calls "$ pkexec liveinst", then it calls "# anaconda --liveinst --graphical" like above, but this fails to find X, terminal output shows: ``` X or window manager startup failed, falling back to text mode. ``` So it seems anaconda cannot find out X when launched as pkexec root session, so I think bug is either pkexec or anaconda.
Maybe when you try the below: * Launch terminal (lxterminal) * On terminal, execute $ /usr/bin/liveinst (explicitly add path prefix, instead of executing $ liveinst) The anaconda installer can launch? Can you try that?
