I have looked at updating EPEL8 in the past and concluded it would be, at best, a very significant effort. Many dependencies of recent aiohttp versions use pyproject.toml and modern Python build backends like hatchling, and could not be backported without rewriting their build systems. I’m not planning to attempt such an update, and I don’t know of any one else who is likely to do so.
