Description Fedora Fails To Install 2024-06-12 11:17:14 UTC
Hello,

Please note that this comment was generated automatically by https://pagure.io/releng/blob/main/f/scripts/ftbfs-fti/follow-policy.py
If you feel that this output has mistakes, please open an issue at https://pagure.io/releng/

Your package (copr-dist-git) Fails To Install in Fedora 41:

can't install copr-dist-git:
  - nothing provides python(abi) = 3.12 needed by copr-dist-git-0.70-1.fc41.noarch

If you know about this problem and are planning on fixing it, please acknowledge so by setting the bug status to ASSIGNED. If you don't have time to maintain this package, consider orphaning it, so maintainers of dependent packages realize the problem.

If you don't react accordingly to the policy for FTBFS/FTI bugs (https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/fesco/Fails_to_build_from_source_Fails_to_install/), your package may be orphaned in 8+ weeks.

P.S. The data was generated solely from koji buildroot, so it might be newer than the latest compose or the content on mirrors. To reproduce, use the koji/local repo only, e.g. in mock:

    $ mock -r fedora-41-x86_64 --config-opts mirrored=False install copr-dist-git

P.P.S. If this bug has been reported in the middle of upgrading multiple dependent packages, please consider using side tags: https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/fesco/Updates_Policy/#updating-inter-dependent-packages

Thanks!

Hello,

If you feel that this output has mistakes, please open an issue at https://pagure.io/releng/

This package fails to install and maintainers are advised to take one of the following actions:

 - Fix this bug and close this bugzilla once the update makes it to the repository.
   (The same script that posted this comment will eventually close this bugzilla
   when the fixed package reaches the repository, so you don't have to worry about it.)

or

 - Move this bug to ASSIGNED if you plan on fixing this, but simply haven't done so yet.

or

 - Orphan the package if you no longer plan to maintain it.

If you do not take one of these actions, the process at https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/fesco/Fails_to_build_from_source_Fails_to_install/#_package_removal_for_long_standing_ftbfs_and_fti_bugs will continue.
This package may be orphaned in 7+ weeks.
This is the first reminder (step 3) from the policy.

Don't hesitate to ask for help on https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/devel@lists.fedoraproject.org/ if you are unsure how to fix this bug.

This package may be orphaned in 4+ weeks.
This is the second reminder (step 4) from the policy.

Don't hesitate to ask for help on https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/devel@lists.fedoraproject.org/ if you are unsure how to fix this bug.

Comment 3 Miro Hrončok 2024-07-29 10:44:26 UTC
I don't think eventlet is going to be fixed in time for Fedora 41.

As always, please consider not using oslo-concurrency.

Comment 4 Miro Hrončok 2024-08-05 10:19:14 UTC
See https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2291818#c6 and https://eventlet.readthedocs.io/en/latest/asyncio/asyncio.html#why-migrating

What is your plan wrt copr-dist-git? You changed this bugzilla to ASSIGNED but added no context.

Comment 5 Miroslav Suchý 2024-08-05 10:49:56 UTC
Right now, it even FTBS with:
```
Problem: conflicting requests
  - nothing provides python(abi) = 3.12 needed by python3-oslo-concurrency-6.0.0-1.fc41.noarch from fedora
  - nothing provides ((python3.12dist(pbr) < 2.1 or python3.12dist(pbr) > 2.1) with python3.12dist(pbr) >= 2) needed by python3-oslo-concurrency-6.0.0-1.fc41.noarch from fedora
  - nothing provides python3.12dist(oslo-config) >= 5.2 needed by python3-oslo-concurrency-6.0.0-1.fc41.noarch from fedora
  - nothing provides python3.12dist(oslo-i18n) >= 3.15.3 needed by python3-oslo-concurrency-6.0.0-1.fc41.noarch from fedora
  - nothing provides python3.12dist(oslo-utils) >= 3.33 needed by python3-oslo-concurrency-6.0.0-1.fc41.noarch from fedora
  - nothing provides python3.12dist(fasteners) >= 0.7 needed by python3-oslo-concurrency-6.0.0-1.fc41.noarch from fedora
```
So I am waiting for bug https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2291818 to be resolved.

Comment 6 Miroslav Suchý 2024-08-05 10:53:32 UTC
> As always, please consider not using oslo-concurrency.

Any reason?

We use it as

from oslo_concurrency import lockutils
with lockutils.lock(name=name, external=True, lock_path=LOCK_PATH,
                        fair=True, delay=0):

We found this most reliable locking mechanism in a multithreading environment.

Comment 8 Karolina Surma 2024-09-04 11:54:42 UTC
This package has failed to build with Python 3.13 so far. Fedora 41 is already in the Beta Freeze phase. What's your plan going forward? Will the package be fixed in time for the Final Freeze of Fedora 41 (planned on Oct 15th 2024)?
If you don't plan or can't fix the package before Fedora 41 goes into the Final Freeze phase, please retire the package. You can unretire it anytime during the Fedora 41 lifecycle - doing this now will simply ensure that we don't release Fedora with a broken package. Thank you!

Comment 9 Miroslav Suchý 2024-09-05 16:08:33 UTC
This is already fixed in upstream. We will do a release and build before the final freeze.

Comment 10 Hirotaka Wakabayashi 2024-09-08 14:36:43 UTC
Hello, I am a package maintainer of python-oslo-concurrency. Does copr-dist-git package depend on python-oslo-concurrency? As you know, python-eventlet, on which python-oslo-concurrency depends, closed with CLOSED/WONTFIX status. So, I will close python-oslo-concurrency's F41FailsToInstall issue with CLOSED/WONTFIX status. Please let me know if this affects you.

python-eventlet closed with CLOSED/WONTFIX status.
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2290561

Thanks in advance,
Hirotaka

Comment 11 Miroslav Suchý 2024-09-08 17:00:04 UTC
Not any more. We removed this dependency. https://github.com/fedora-copr/copr/pull/3368

Comment 12 Fedora Fails To Install 2024-10-02 13:49:34 UTC
Hello,

Please note that this comment was generated automatically by https://pagure.io/releng/blob/main/f/scripts/ftbfs-fti/follow-policy.py
If you feel that this output has mistakes, please open an issue at https://pagure.io/releng/

All subpackages of a package against which this bug was filled are now installable or removed from Fedora 42.

Thanks for taking care of it!

Comment 13 Fedora Update System 2024-10-05 09:30:10 UTC
FEDORA-2024-e905d07ae2 (copr-dist-git-1.0-1.fc41) has been submitted as an update to Fedora 41.
https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2024-e905d07ae2

Comment 14 Jakub Kadlčík 2024-10-09 10:22:53 UTC
There is still NEEDINFO so I am just commenting to clear it out. As msuchy said, in https://github.com/fedora-copr/copr/pull/3368 we dropped the dependency on python3-oslo-concurrency and the change was included in this release https://docs.pagure.org/copr.copr/release-notes/2024-10-03.html

Actually ... I think we can close the ticket now.

    $ docker run -it quay.io/fedora/fedora:41
    [root@4234756e506b /]# dnf install copr-dist-git
    ...
    [root@4234756e506b /]# echo $?
    0

Comment 15 Miro Hrončok 2024-10-09 12:04:51 UTC
https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2024-e905d07ae2 is not yet stable.

Comment 16 Fedora Update System 2024-10-12 00:18:56 UTC
FEDORA-2024-e905d07ae2 (copr-dist-git-1.0-1.fc41) has been pushed to the Fedora 41 stable repository.
If problem still persists, please make note of it in this bug report.
