If you don't have time to maintain this package, consider orphaning it, so maintainers of dependent packages realize the problem. If you don't react accordingly to the policy for FTBFS/FTI bugs (https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/fesco/Fails_to_build_from_source_Fails_to_install/), your package may be orphaned in 8+ weeks. Looks like rebuild for F41 failed (https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/buildinfo?buildID=2464361) so this version still depends on Python 3.12 from F40. But I don't see why this build failed... maybe it's enough to re-trigger it?
The build hangs. The one you linked failed because the Python 3.13 side tag was deleted while it hung. There were other builds. Eventually canceled: https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/taskinfo?taskID=120735658 https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/taskinfo?taskID=118716927 https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/taskinfo?taskID=118869949
Are logs from those cancelled builds available somewhere? When I try a scratch build now, it hangs at tests: ``` tests/test_glib_events.py::TestGLibEventLoop::test_run_forever_recursion ... ok tests/test_glib_events.py::TestGLibEventLoop::test_run_recursion ... ok tests/test_glib_events.py::TestGLibEventLoop::test_run ... ok tests/test_glib_events.py::TestGLibEventLoop::test_stop ... ok tests/test_glib_events.py::TestGLibEventLoop::test_set_application ... ok tests/test_glib_events.py::TestGLibEventLoop::test_set_application_invalid_type ... ok tests/test_glib_events.py::TestGLibEventLoop::test_set_application_invalid_repeat_calls ... ok tests/test_glib_events.py::TestGLibEventLoop::test_set_application_invalid_when_running ... ok tests/test_glib_events.py::test_signal_handling_with_multiple_invocations ... ok tests/test_glib_events.py::test_default_signal_handling ... ok tests/test_glib_events.py::test_subprocesses_read_after_closure ... ok tests/test_glib_events.py::test_subprocesses_readline_without_closure ... ok ```
Ok, local mockbuild hangs in the same place. Updating to 0.6.5 seems to help, but it's annoying due to https://github.com/beeware/gbulb/commit/db0f1999ef64c0cf47d09406b2b6c7b4887d6dad#diff-50c86b7ed8ac2cf95bd48334961bf0530cdc77b5a56f852c5c61b89d735fd711R52-R59 (of course exact versions do not match what Fedora has...)
I can't upload new sources (IIUC only packager can do that) but patch + spec changes here: https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/python-gbulb/pull-request/1
https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/python-gbulb/pull-request/1 has the patch only.
Right, updated
This package has failed to build with Python 3.13 so far. Fedora 41 is already in the Beta Freeze phase. What's your plan going forward? Will the package be fixed in time for the Final Freeze of Fedora 41 (planned on Oct 15th 2024)? If you don't plan or can't fix the package before Fedora 41 goes into the Final Freeze phase, please retire the package. You can unretire it anytime during the Fedora 41 lifecycle - doing this now will simply ensure that we don't release Fedora with a broken package. Thank you!
https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/python-gbulb/pull-request/1 works now. Davide?
For a lack of response, I am merging and building the above PR as a provenpackager.
