Hi, Sorry for commenting on a closed ticket, but I was wondering why eccodes-2.36.0 has not been updated for the EPEL repositories? We are using EPEL and are required to update to 2.36.0, so are hoping this version could become available in EPEL. If there's anything I can do on our end to accomplish this, please let me know. Thanks in advance. Best regards, Jiri Bakker - KNMI (Royal Dutch Meteorological Institute)
Hi Jiri, for EPEL the update policy is to be very cautious, stability here is more important than being on the cutting edge (like we do for Fedora). On the other hand, there can be reasons for you as user to need a new version, and for eccodes the obvious reason is that you would need the new WMO tables to handle your data. Therefore I update this package for EPEL, but only if a user requests it, or if I am aware of significant changes to the tables. Since your message is a clear user request I will reopen this ticket and update the package as soon as my time allows. And regarding your last question. You already did do something by reaching out and creating this message. But we are always looking for more volunteers to help us package software for Fedora and EPEL, so any help there would be appreciated as well. Best regards, Jos de Kloe (also KNMI)
Hi Jos, Thanks so much for the swift reply, and for reopening the ticket. With regards to your last question, I'm not sure my current expertise reaches a point that I would be eligible to volunteer. Nevertheless, I will keep it under consideration, and perhaps advocate towards others if the opportunity arises. Again, thanks for your support! Best regards, Jiri
