Hello, Please note that this comment was generated automatically by https://pagure.io/releng/blob/main/f/scripts/ftbfs-fti/follow-policy.py If you feel that this output has mistakes, please open an issue at https://pagure.io/releng/ Your package (qt5-qtwebengine) Fails To Install in Fedora 42: can't install qt5-qtwebengine: - nothing provides libre2.so.9()(64bit) needed by qt5-qtwebengine-5.15.17-3.fc41.x86_64 If you know about this problem and are planning on fixing it, please acknowledge so by setting the bug status to ASSIGNED. If you don't have time to maintain this package, consider orphaning it, so maintainers of dependent packages realize the problem. If you don't react accordingly to the policy for FTBFS/FTI bugs (https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/fesco/Fails_to_build_from_source_Fails_to_install/), your package may be orphaned in 8+ weeks. P.S. The data was generated solely from koji buildroot, so it might be newer than the latest compose or the content on mirrors. To reproduce, use the koji/local repo only, e.g. in mock: $ mock -r fedora-42-x86_64 --config-opts mirrored=False install qt5-qtwebengine P.P.S. If this bug has been reported in the middle of upgrading multiple dependent packages, please consider using side tags: https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/fesco/Updates_Policy/#updating-inter-dependent-packages Thanks!
The package is uninstallable and requires a rebuild in Fedora 42 (rawhide) due to the libre2.so.9 → libre2.so.11 soname bump. The package also need to adapt to the Fedora 41 Change: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Changes/RetirePython2.7 The python2.7 package will be retired without replacement from Fedora Linux 41. Packages requiring python2.7 on runtime or buildtime will have to deal with the retirement or be retired as well. The change page list possible options to handle this: qt5-qtwebengine: buildtime only. No bugzilla. Package bundles Python 2 for build in EPEL 9 and can probably do the same on Fedora. Alternativelly, can use PyPy (untested assumption). There is now a patch from Arch Linux to make it build with Python 3.
Fixed in Rawhide and F41 with commit: https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/qt5-qtwebengine/c/fd03f499cd945f0cb22b3f0366c844966ea490ce?branch=rawhide
