1. Please describe the problem: While playing demanding games (so far I noticed it in "Helldivers 2" and "Divinity original sin 2") the whole screen freezes for multiple seconds, in unpredictable intervals. This can go so far that I get only a single frame every ~30sec till I closed the game. Sound is not impacted, and inputs are still working. Framerate before and after is not impacted. It is not limited to the game, when I tab out even desktop/Firefox freezes. First wrote about the Problem here, https://community.frame.work/t/freeze-frames-fw16-linux/56367/5, others seem to have similar problems. "journalctl -xe" does not output "amdgpu: MES failed to respond to msg=MISC (WAIT_REG_MEM)", so i assume its another bug? Hardware: Operating System: Fedora Linux 40 KDE Plasma Version: 6.1.4 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.5.0 Qt Version: 6.7.2 Kernel Version: 6.10.6-200.fc40.x86_64 (64-bit) Graphics Platform: Wayland Processors: 16 × AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS w/ Radeon 780M Graphics Memory: 30.7 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor: AMD Radeon 780M Manufacturer: Framework Product Name: Laptop 16 (AMD Ryzen 7040 Series) System Version: AG 2. What is the Version-Release number of the kernel: 6.10.6-200.fc40.x86_64 (64-bit) 3. Did it work previously in Fedora? I ignored it at first so I am unsure of the first Kernel, but it was before 6.10.4. I will test version 6.10.1 and the last version of 6.9 and update the post later. In 6.8 the problem is not present. 4. Can you reproduce this issue? If so, please provide the steps to reproduce the issue below: Start up the Helldivers 2, load into a Map first Freezeframes happen within minutes and it feels like they get longer over time. 5. Does this problem occur with the latest Rawhide kernel? Gonna try that in a moment and update the ticket. 6. Are you running any modules that not shipped with directly Fedora's kernel?: Not to my knowledge Reproducible: Always
Created attachment 2044931 [details] journalctl --no-hostname -k > dmesg.txt
Only did a short test, but it seems to be still present in Rawhide
Freezes in "kernel-6.10.1-200.fc40.x86_64" but not in "kernel-6.9.12-200.fc40.x86_64"
