Github avrdudes avrdude issues 1917 0 None closed Errors and warnings while running `avrdude -c '*/u'` on s390x 2024-09-01 21:51:30 UTC

Description Hans Ulrich Niedermann 2024-09-01 21:51:30 UTC
Description of problem:

avrdude only runs on little endian (LE) systems at this time.
s390x is big endian (BE) and therefore avrdude does not run there.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

  8.0

How reproducible:

  100%

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Run avrdude in any way, e.g. `avrdude -c '*/u'`.

Actual results:

avrdude produces warnings and errors and possibly makes mistakes.

Expected results:

  List of udev rules.

Additional info:

Upstream bug https://github.com/avrdudes/avrdude/issues/1917 conclusion is big endian support "is not planned".

This bug appears to have been reported against 'rawhide' during the Fedora Linux 42 development cycle.
Changing version to 42.
