Description of problem: I installed Fedora 41 Beta 1.2 on an HP EliteDesk 800 G5 DM Computer with UEFI but secureboot disabled. I also enabled disk-encryption. This error was thrown at me just after creating the user account through the GUI-Installer after reboot. I did not notice any impact, but it's strange to me that the first thing the user will see is a crash report :-) Version-Release number of selected component: gnome-software-47~beta-1.fc41 Additional info: reporter: libreport-2.17.15 type: CCpp reason: gnome-software killed by SIGSEGV journald_cursor: s=a6a5aef282a447db96030909bec461f3;i=909;b=5e069cfa51ef4d9ba0150a639dfdf94a;m=71b041d;t=6225316d6b862;x=3dfd1a1dd8f092d executable: /usr/bin/gnome-software cmdline: /usr/bin/gnome-software --gapplication-service cgroup: 0::/user.slice/user-1000.slice/user/app.slice/app-gnome-org.gnome.Software-3041.scope rootdir: / uid: 1000 kernel: 6.11.0-0.rc5.43.fc41.x86_64 package: gnome-software-47~beta-1.fc41 runlevel: N 5 backtrace_rating: 4 crash_function: gs_plugin_set_enabled Truncated backtrace: Thread no. 1 (21 frames) #0 gs_plugin_set_enabled at ../lib/gs-plugin.c:334 #1 gs_dkms_got_secureboot_state_cb at ../plugins/dkms/gs-plugin-dkms.c:64 #2 g_task_return_now at ../gio/gtask.c:1361 #3 g_task_return at ../gio/gtask.c:1430 #5 gs_dkms_get_secureboot_state_ready_cb at ../lib/gs-dkms-private.c:373 #6 g_task_return_now at ../gio/gtask.c:1361 #7 g_task_return at ../gio/gtask.c:1430 #9 g_subprocess_communicate_made_progress at ../gio/gsubprocess.c:1406 #10 g_task_return_now at ../gio/gtask.c:1361 #11 g_task_return at ../gio/gtask.c:1430 #13 async_ready_splice_callback_wrapper at ../gio/goutputstream.c:1719 #14 g_task_return_now at ../gio/gtask.c:1361 #15 g_task_return at ../gio/gtask.c:1430 #17 real_splice_async_complete_cb at ../gio/goutputstream.c:2694 #18 async_ready_close_callback_wrapper at ../gio/ginputstream.c:579 #19 g_task_return_now at ../gio/gtask.c:1361 #20 complete_in_idle_cb at ../gio/gtask.c:1375 #23 g_main_context_dispatch_unlocked at ../glib/gmain.c:4208 #24 g_main_context_iterate_unlocked.isra.0 at ../glib/gmain.c:4273 #25 g_main_context_iteration at ../glib/gmain.c:4338 #26 g_application_run at ../gio/gapplication.c:2715

Thanks for a bug report. You are right, it's not good to be greeted with a crash report. Interesting that I do not face it. It might be related to a different call order, I guess. In any case, I proposed a fix upstream: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-software/-/merge_requests/2122

Kind regards Michael
