The wifi though functional has constant errors in journalctl output The wifi does seem to perform well enough but its overall signal strength and peak speed have diminished anecdotally Oct 09 15:37:00 zerotwos-zephyrusg14 wpa_supplicant[1430]: wlp2s0: CTRL-EVENT-SIGNAL-CHANGE above=0 signal=-76 noise=9999 txrate=216100 Oct 09 15:37:03 zerotwos-zephyrusg14 wpa_supplicant[1430]: wlp2s0: CTRL-EVENT-SIGNAL-CHANGE above=0 signal=-75 noise=9999 txrate=216100 Oct 09 15:37:06 zerotwos-zephyrusg14 wpa_supplicant[1430]: wlp2s0: CTRL-EVENT-SIGNAL-CHANGE above=0 signal=-82 noise=9999 txrate=216100 Oct 09 15:37:09 zerotwos-zephyrusg14 wpa_supplicant[1430]: the number of errors increases when the wifi is in active use. I haven't tested whether the error is with the mt79xx-firmware or wpa-supplicant or physically with the Wi-Fi chipset. I shall be checking with another Wi-Fi chipset soon though. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Use wifi as usual 2.the log will be filled with this error and seems to increase with more usage 3. Actual Results: Constant error messages in journalctl Expected Results: Error should only appear when there are issues in the system I have noticed this same behaviour in Opensuse Tumbleweed. And i noticed the errors coming after a certain kernel update (i cannot be sure which) As the initial fedora 40 kernel did not have the issue and only came after a certain update in fedora 40 and it has similarly continued in fedora 41 beta
I am seeing this too. Every 3 seconds a message from wpa_supplicant in the journal. This seems to have been fixed upstream: https://w1.fi/cgit/hostap/commit/?id=c330b5820eefa8e703dbce7278c2a62d9c69166a Could this patch be added to the Fedora RPMs? I have a MEDIATEK Corp. MT7922 802.11ax PCI Express Wireless Network Adapter.
