I have found out that the issue does not occur use wayland instead of xorg.
In this case, it is definitely a Mutter issue. Let's move to the right package.

If I exit `ibus`, the reported issue vanishes! Therefore, to run `blender` without this issue, one needs to start `blender` with: `GTK_IM_MODULE=xim QT_IM_MODULE=xim XMODIFIERS=@im=none blender`
