Description Angelo Schirinzi 2024-11-12 08:48:37 UTC
Since Fedora moved to GNOME 47 there have been several graphical changes (thanks to Libadwaita's update). One of these concerns the animated loading icon (adw.spinner widget): in the current plymouth theme (in Fedora 41) the previous animated loading icon is still present, so it should be updated to improve the graphical consistency of the operating system.

Reproducible: Always

You might want to report this on https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/plymouth/plymouth/-/issues where it's more likely to get attention. Fedora just uses the default upstream plymouth theme.

Comment 2 Angelo Schirinzi 2025-02-27 22:25:47 UTC
Are all Plymouth themes managed by Plymouth developers? It seems strange to me. In any case, I think the "problem" affects one of the subpackages, plymouth-system-theme or plymouth-theme-spinner. In reality, this is not a "problem", just need to update the theme.

Comment 3 Michael Catanzaro 2025-02-28 01:21:23 UTC
The default theme is "bgrt". "spinner" is a different one. Both of them are indeed maintained upstream.

Comment 4 Angelo Schirinzi 2025-02-28 10:26:06 UTC
Done. Thank you.

Comment 5 Hans de Goede 2025-03-03 10:45:45 UTC
Hi, the new spinner theme / images are upstream already:

https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/plymouth/plymouth/-/commit/1a01883fa2659bfb5e7417e1d5bd8d287a2cac36

I plan to do a plymouth package update for F42+ to address the issues from bug 2347519 . I'll include the theme update in that update.

Comment 6 Angelo Schirinzi 2025-03-03 13:44:24 UTC
Thanks for the clarification. I close here.
