Closing this ticket as a more recent version exists, see bug#2278142
Ah this was for EPEL 9. On my side I do need msmtp for EPEL 10. If the latest version updates fine for EPEL 9, I will build it there too.
Updated msmtp to 1.8.25 in EPEL 9. This is the latest version that works with the currently available libgsasl 1.x in EPEL. Versions 1.8.26 and later require libgsasl 2.x for certain authentication methods (SCRAM-SHA-1/256, CRAM-MD5, DIGEST-MD5, GSSAPI, NTLM). Since libgsasl 2.x is not available in EPEL, updating beyond 1.8.25 would require either packaging gsasl-2 or dropping those authentication methods — neither of which is appropriate for a stable EPEL release at this time.
