Hello, Please note that this comment was generated automatically by https://pagure.io/releng/blob/main/f/scripts/ftbfs-fti/follow-policy.py If you feel that this output has mistakes, please open an issue at https://pagure.io/releng/ Your package (qemu) Fails To Install in Fedora 42: can't install qemu-system-arm-core: - nothing provides edk2-arm needed by qemu-system-arm-core-2:9.2.0-0.1.rc1.fc42.x86_64 If you know about this problem and are planning on fixing it, please acknowledge so by setting the bug status to ASSIGNED. If you don't have time to maintain this package, consider orphaning it, so maintainers of dependent packages realize the problem. If you don't react accordingly to the policy for FTBFS/FTI bugs (https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/fesco/Fails_to_build_from_source_Fails_to_install/), your package may be orphaned in 8+ weeks. P.S. The data was generated solely from koji buildroot, so it might be newer than the latest compose or the content on mirrors. To reproduce, use the koji/local repo only, e.g. in mock: $ mock -r fedora-42-x86_64 --config-opts mirrored=False install qemu-system-arm-core P.P.S. If this bug has been reported in the middle of upgrading multiple dependent packages, please consider using side tags: https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/fesco/Updates_Policy/#updating-inter-dependent-packages Thanks!
Kraxel dropped the 32 bit arm images: https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/edk2/c/53fa21dafcef14a7d264a89c2977cdbef58df770?branch=rawhide I'm not sure if we should just drop this dependency from the qemu package, or if it's actually needed (-kernel and/or devicetree boot would still work without it?)
Cole added the EDK dep back in: commit 3f428d8457525dcd5badbde873c6f1b0287c7eb5 Author: Cole Robinson <crobinso> Date: Thu Feb 24 14:49:11 2022 -0500 Add edk-arm dep for system-arm It's expected nowdays for -M virt It is certainly relevant to aarch64, and it happens that QEMU broadly mirrors functionality across arm7 & arch64, hence 'virt' on arm7 What I'm unclear on is whether there were ever any OS that supported '-M virt' with arm7, that expected EDK ?

Updates edk2 for f40 + f41 are pending (in updates-testing right now), so I guess the comment 4 fix should go to f41 and f40 too? Also a heads up: edk2-ovmf-ia32 is a drop candidate too. The number of distros actually supporting i386 installs is shrinking, and i386 EFI guest support is an extremly rare thing too. Essentially because the large style adoption of x86_64 happened before the large style adoption of UEFI. Maybe I should do that right away, while being busy dropping 32-bit EFI platforms, for consistency reasons. "dnf repoquery --whatdepends=edk2-ovmf-ia32" comes up empty, so that should at least not cause any dependency problems.
qemu doesn't require edk2-ovmf-ia32 so there'll be nothing to do there. Note this too: https://www.spinics.net/lists/fedora-devel/threads.html#324668
I also fixed this in F41 & F40.
