Description Bojan Smojver 2024-12-05 20:18:42 UTC
1. Please describe the problem:

Installed packages from koji, rebooted the VM. Hangs after printing secure boot enabled.

2. What is the Version-Release number of the kernel:

kernel-6.12.2-200.fc41

3. Did it work previously in Fedora? If so, what kernel version did the issue
*first* appear? Old kernels are available for download at
   https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/packageinfo?packageID=8 :

Current kernel, 6.11.10-300.fc41 works fine.

4. Can you reproduce this issue? If so, please provide the steps to reproduce
   the issue below:

Install x86_64 packages from https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/buildinfo?buildID=2597245, specifically, kernel, kernel-core, kernel-modules and kernel-core-modules. Reboot.

5. Does this problem occur with the latest Rawhide kernel? To install the
Rawhide kernel, run ``sudo dnf install fedora-repos-rawhide`` followed by
   ``sudo dnf update --enablerepo=rawhide kernel``:

Did not try yet.

6. Are you running any modules that not shipped with directly Fedora's kernel?:

No.

7. Please attach the kernel logs. You can get the complete kernel log
   for a boot with ``journalctl --no-hostname -k > dmesg.txt``. If the
issue occurred on a previous boot, use the journalctl ``-b`` flag.

It does not come to the points where logs would even be emitted. Hangs right after secure boot mode enabled line (tried turning off secure boot, hangs after printing kernel version, i.e. straight after grub calls it).

Comment 1 Bojan Smojver 2024-12-05 20:26:51 UTC
This is regresion in 6.12.2. Previous build, 6.12.1 boots fine.

Comment 2 Bojan Smojver 2024-12-05 23:08:27 UTC
Just tested the most recent Rawhide kernel: kernel-6.13.0-0.rc1.20241204gitfeffde684ac2.17.fc42. That boots.

Can confirm this.

Comment 4 Bojan Smojver 2024-12-07 09:03:10 UTC
Fixed in 6.12.3.

Comment 5 Vitaly Kuznetsov 2024-12-20 10:44:19 UTC
Bojan, Joachim, as we may want to fix the problem in stable 6.12 kernels (e.g. c10s), could you please specify which Hyper-V version showed the faulty behavior?

Comment 6 Bojan Smojver 2024-12-20 11:02:56 UTC
I can get the version of Hyper-V from my laptop, but all kernels in 6.12 series work, except for .2, which was released with a known breakage.

Comment 7 Vitaly Kuznetsov 2024-12-20 12:36:53 UTC
Maybe you know which version of Windows this laptop runs?

Comment 8 Bojan Smojver 2024-12-20 20:14:17 UTC
Windows 10 22H2 OS Build 19045.5247
Hyper-V Manager 10.0.19041.1
