Description Paul DeStefano 2024-12-07 09:03:14 UTC
When printing, the job goes to the queue, but the journal shows and error to the effect that data is corrupt. When trying to print-preview, the previewer starts and immediately shows an error that says the file is damaged. When printing to a file, there is no error at first, but when you open this file with evince, it's also broken and shows an error about the file being corrupt.

This seems to only happen with some PDFs, but that includes ones I create with LaTeX (xelatex/xdvipdfmx) and files I have received that report producer/creator pdftk and cairo. PDF created with pdflatex and Adobe, and possibly other tools, can be print, previewed, and printed-to-file-ed.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. open a PDF
2. try to print to file
3. try print-preview
Actual Results:
output is corrupt

Expected Results:
this worked just a couple of weeks ago.

Comment 1 Paul DeStefano 2024-12-08 01:12:51 UTC
Looks like a DNF update fixed this. Very strange. 45 pkgs were updated, but most were related to cups or cairo.

Comment 2 Marek Kašík 2024-12-09 14:18:42 UTC
Looking at recent updates, this has been fixed in Cairo. See https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/cairo/cairo/-/issues/870 and https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2330100.

Regards
