Description raghavendra-uddhav.tilay@hpe.com 2024-12-10 14:16:42 UTC
Description of problem:
HPE 3par Storage requesting a backport of below patches [1] and [2] into RHOSP 17.1. They require it in Wallaby.

[1] https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/cinder/+/937240
[2] https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/cinder/+/926583

This will enable them to support their new version of Alletra MP Storage (i.e R4) utilizing the same Cinder driver (iSCSI protocol) that exists in 3Par/Primera/Alletra 9K and Alletra MP (upto R3).

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
17.1

Additional info:
We have a customer waiting for these fixes.
Request to please provide hotfix based on 17.1.4.
Thanks.

Hi team,

In addition to above two patches, request to please include below patch also in hotfix based on 17.1.4

Thanks & Regards,
Raghavendra Tilay.

Comment 3 Alan Bishop 2024-12-17 17:09:24 UTC
[3] https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/cinder/+/935615 is not eligible for backport because it has not yet merged on master. It's also unrelated to the patches that fix the getWsApiVersion login requirements.

Comment 4 raghavendra-uddhav.tilay@hpe.com 2025-01-07 09:09:46 UTC
Hi,
Is there any tentative date by which the hotfix could be available ?

Comment 5 Alan Bishop 2025-01-08 15:15:38 UTC
The hotfix was delayed by extended holiday breaks, and some of the Red Hat tools were offline for a while for maintenance. I hope to have another status update by the end of this week.

Remember that we need a support case number to associate with any hotfix RPM.

Comment 6 Alan Bishop 2025-01-08 17:13:47 UTC
With the Red Hat build tools back online, they revealed a problem with the backport of the first patch [1]. The unit tests fail because the latest login/logout logic is built up a prior patch [2] that merged in yoga.

[1] https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/cinder/+/937240
[2] https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/cinder/+/804698

Patch [2] "HPE 3PAR: Reuse existing session" looks like a useful backport in 17.1, and it fixes the unit test issue with patch [1].

Raghavendra, are you OK including a backport of [2] in this BZ?

Comment 7 raghavendra-uddhav.tilay@hpe.com 2025-01-09 09:22:06 UTC
Alan,
i am fine with including the backport of 804698

Comment 8 Alan Bishop 2025-01-09 21:23:49 UTC
The backports are essentially ready to go. However, we still need a support case number in order to generate the hotfix RPMS.

Please be sure the customer opened a support case, and let us know the case number so that it can be associated with this bug report.

Comment 9 raghavendra-uddhav.tilay@hpe.com 2025-01-10 13:10:04 UTC
Thank you Alan.
Once we get support case from customer, we will update here.
