Description Fedora Fails To Install 2024-12-17 12:43:58 UTC
Hello,

Please note that this comment was generated automatically by https://pagure.io/releng/blob/main/f/scripts/ftbfs-fti/follow-policy.py
If you feel that this output has mistakes, please open an issue at https://pagure.io/releng/

Your package (qgnomeplatform) Fails To Install in Fedora 41:

can't install qgnomeplatform-qt6:
  - nothing provides qt6-qtbase(x86-64) = 6.8.0 needed by qgnomeplatform-qt6-0.9.2-19.fc41.x86_64

If you know about this problem and are planning on fixing it, please acknowledge so by setting the bug status to ASSIGNED. If you don't have time to maintain this package, consider orphaning it, so maintainers of dependent packages realize the problem.

If you don't react accordingly to the policy for FTBFS/FTI bugs (https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/fesco/Fails_to_build_from_source_Fails_to_install/), your package may be orphaned in 8+ weeks.

P.S. The data was generated solely from koji buildroot, so it might be newer than the latest compose or the content on mirrors. To reproduce, use the koji/local repo only, e.g. in mock:

    $ mock -r fedora-41-x86_64 --config-opts mirrored=False install qgnomeplatform-qt6

P.P.S. If this bug has been reported in the middle of upgrading multiple dependent packages, please consider using side tags: https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/fesco/Updates_Policy/#updating-inter-dependent-packages

Thanks!

This was fixed in recent qt6-qtbase which now takes over qgnomeplatform.

Comment 2 Miro Hrončok 2024-12-17 14:28:16 UTC
There are 2 problems here:

 - qgnomeplatform-qt6-0.9.2-19.fc41.x86_64 is and will likely remain unsinatallable for the time of Fedora 41. as such, if you don't want to be bothered with those automated bugzillas, this bugzilla needs to remain open (e.g. in MODIFIED state, assigned to nobody)

 - qt6-qtbase-gui-0:6.8.1-5.fc41.x86_64 obsoletes qgnomeplatform-qt6 <= 0.9.2, but 0.9.2-19.fc41 > 0.9.2. This needs to be fixed.

I also have qt6-qtbase-gui to provide qgnomeplatform-qt6 = %{version}-%{release}.

Ok. Fixed now to be <= 0.9.3. Now I realize it could have been < 0.9.3, but it doesn't matter as 0.9.3 will never be released.

Thanks.

I am going to turn this bugzilla into a placeholder, so no more bugs are opened by FailsToInstall strip.

s/strip/script/

Just to be sure, `QT_QPA_PLATFORMTHEME=gnome` is not supported at all by qt6-qtbase-gui, right?

Comment 7 Adam Williamson (Red Hat non-Fedora) 2025-12-02 01:58:46 UTC
This message is a reminder that Fedora Linux 41 is nearing its end of life.
Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora Linux 41 on 2025-12-15.
It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer
maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a
'version' of '41'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, change the 'version'
to a later Fedora Linux version. Note that the version field may be hidden.
Click the "Show advanced fields" button if you do not see it.

Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not
able to fix it before Fedora Linux 41 is end of life. If you would still like
to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version
of Fedora Linux, you are encouraged to change the 'version' to a later version
prior to this bug being closed.

Comment 8 Samyak Jain (RedHat) 2025-12-16 18:09:01 UTC
Fedora Linux 41 entered end-of-life (EOL) status on 2025-12-15.

Fedora Linux 41 is no longer maintained, which means that it
will not receive any further security or bug fix updates. As a result we
are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of Fedora Linux
please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. Note that the version
field may be hidden. Click the "Show advanced fields" button if you do not see
the version field.

If you are unable to reopen this bug, please file a new report against an
active release.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
