Please branch and build python-dask in epel10.

Comment 1 Elliott Sales de Andrade 2025-02-02 08:08:30 UTC
You can ask the EPEL maintainer.

Comment 2 Aoife Moloney 2025-02-26 13:21:41 UTC
This bug appears to have been reported against 'rawhide' during the Fedora Linux 42 development cycle.
Changing version to 42.

Comment 3 Sandro 2025-03-26 08:01:32 UTC
I strongly suggest to package version 2025.1.0 or newer for EPEL10. 2025.1.0 integrates dask-expr, making the latter obsolete. See my suggestion in bug 2338642 comment 1.

Comment 4 Kaleb KEITHLEY 2025-03-26 12:39:57 UTC
If the main maintainer want to update rawhide to the newer version, I'd be happy to use 2025.x in epel10, but I also think it would be strange for epel10 to have a newer version than the one in rawhide.

I agree, but currently this build does not exist in rawhide. I don't want to build EPEL10 with a newer version than rawhide and get it out of sync at this stage of the game, so we need to get rawhide updated first.

Unfortunately I'm only a collaborator but I'm sure a PR for the update would be welcomed by @quantum.analyst

Comment 6 Elliott Sales de Andrade 2025-04-10 07:36:32 UTC
I would like to do so, but 1) there are some new test failures (I reported one in an earlier new version, but there are more in the latest) and 2) I don't have SSH access at the moment. So I need to find some time to look into 1 (and at least report it upstream), but I can't do much about 2 for some time (but if there were a working PR, I could merge it.)

Comment 7 Sandro 2025-04-15 20:07:47 UTC
I have submitted PRs for dask and distributed[1,2]. I was able to handle all the test failures (details in the PR). The issue with distributed took a bit more digging to get to the root cause, but it all boiled down to one and the same issue, which I tackled.

Please take a look if the PRs suit your workflow. I can also take care of the bootstrap dance once the PRs are approved and merged, if you like.
