Hello, Please note that this comment was generated automatically by https://pagure.io/releng/blob/main/f/scripts/ftbfs-fti/follow-policy.py If you feel that this output has mistakes, please open an issue at https://pagure.io/releng/ Your package (libguestfs) Fails To Install in Fedora 42: can't install ruby-libguestfs: - nothing provides libruby.so.3.3()(64bit) needed by ruby-libguestfs-1:1.55.3-1.fc42.x86_64 If you know about this problem and are planning on fixing it, please acknowledge so by setting the bug status to ASSIGNED. If you don't have time to maintain this package, consider orphaning it, so maintainers of dependent packages realize the problem. If you don't react accordingly to the policy for FTBFS/FTI bugs (https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/fesco/Fails_to_build_from_source_Fails_to_install/), your package may be orphaned in 8+ weeks. P.S. The data was generated solely from koji buildroot, so it might be newer than the latest compose or the content on mirrors. To reproduce, use the koji/local repo only, e.g. in mock: $ mock -r fedora-42-x86_64 --config-opts mirrored=False install ruby-libguestfs P.P.S. If this bug has been reported in the middle of upgrading multiple dependent packages, please consider using side tags: https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/fesco/Updates_Policy/#updating-inter-dependent-packages Thanks!
I notice that Ruby 3.4 was built in a side tag a couple of days ago: https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/buildinfo?buildID=2610935 I don't see a Bodhi update for it so far. So I wonder if we need to rebuild libguestfs into the same side tag? (CC'd Vit)
Actually, that side tag was deleted, so it must have been merged, even though I cannot see anything in Bodhi. So I will try rebuilding libguestfs in Rawhide to see if that fixes the problem.
I found the bodhi update via the tracking bug: https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2025-dbf6ae505d It's quite annoying that bodhi didn't find this when I searched for "ruby". Anyway will rebuild libguestfs as per previous comment.
FEDORA-2025-9a4a4d054e (libguestfs-1.55.3-2.fc42) has been submitted as an update to Fedora 42. https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2025-9a4a4d054e
https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/rpminfo?rpmID=41139225 Depends on libruby 3.4, so this looks like it should fix the problem.
The update is listed in https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/?packages=ruby
Created attachment 2065285 [details] screenshot It really isn't, unless they're not in order.
Oh it *is*. But that's a UI fail, if I searched for "ruby" then it should show the ruby version on each line.
Sorry for the troubles. As you have already figured out, this was unfortunate mid air collision between Ruby mass rebuild and your update. I can confirm that it seems the new update should resolve the issue. Thank you for taking care about it.
FEDORA-2025-9a4a4d054e (libguestfs-1.55.3-2.fc42) has been pushed to the Fedora 42 stable repository. If problem still persists, please make note of it in this bug report.
