I'm pretty sure that you can just patch the dirs dependency to allow building with v5. There were no API changes between v5 and v6 that I can see. I have no idea why the two lines of changes in the crate's tests would warrant a major release ...
Yeah, that's definitely the faster way to get this out. I was also baffled when I checked the git commits since the dirs project of course have no changelog...
