exim failed to build from source in Fedora rawhide/f42 https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/taskinfo?taskID=127949067 For details on the mass rebuild see: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Fedora_42_Mass_Rebuild Please fix exim at your earliest convenience and set the bug's status to ASSIGNED when you start fixing it. If the bug remains in NEW state for 8 weeks, exim will be orphaned. Before branching of Fedora 43, exim will be retired, if it still fails to build. Since there's a security issue now (though I don't think Fedora is affected) I had a look and it appears that the C23 issues are localized to the monitor (EXIM_MONITOR=eximon.bin). If I add sed -i 's@^EXIM_MONITOR=eximon.bin@# EXIM_MONITOR=eximon.bin@' Local/Makefile then things compile without error (though of course the rest of the spec needs adjustment). I personally don't use the monitor and would have no issues if it went away, but it doesn't seem like the compilation failures are insurmountable, but I don't really do much C so I'm hoping someone who knows more can have a look. Switching back to C17 would probably also work.
This bug appears to have been reported against 'rawhide' during the Fedora Linux 42 development cycle. Changing version to 42.
exim-4.98.1 has a fix for an SQL injection attack listed in CVE-2025-26794 It's available in Fedora 41, but fails to build in Fedora 42, a fix would be appreciated.
