Description Fedora Release Engineering 2025-01-22 19:39:25 UTC
freeipmi failed to build from source in Fedora rawhide/f42

https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/taskinfo?taskID=127952144

For details on the mass rebuild see:

https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Fedora_42_Mass_Rebuild
Please fix freeipmi at your earliest convenience and set the bug's status to
ASSIGNED when you start fixing it. If the bug remains in NEW state for 8 weeks,
freeipmi will be orphaned. Before branching of Fedora 43,
freeipmi will be retired, if it still fails to build.

Comment 5 Pavel Cahyna 2025-02-07 09:58:30 UTC
Looks like a rebase to the newest version (bz2338311) will solve the build failures, the changelog ( https://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/freeipmi-announce/2025-01/msg00000.html ) reads: "Fix gcc 14.x build failures."

Comment 6 Pavel Cahyna 2025-02-17 17:45:49 UTC
Actually one more patch is needed, https://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/freeipmi-devel/2025-02/msg00000.html

Comment 7 Aoife Moloney 2025-02-26 13:29:30 UTC
This bug appears to have been reported against 'rawhide' during the Fedora Linux 42 development cycle.
Changing version to 42.

Comment 8 Yaakov Selkowitz 2025-03-07 04:02:21 UTC
@pcahyna 1.6.15-3 has been committed to rawhide but not built yet, any reason not to build it?

Comment 9 Ian Laurie 2025-03-07 21:22:17 UTC
We need the fix in 42 also because freeipmi has many items (over 20) in /usr/sbin preventing the merge.

Comment 10 Pavel Cahyna 2025-03-08 21:02:43 UTC
No particular reason, it is building now.

Comment 11 Fedora Update System 2025-03-08 21:10:37 UTC
FEDORA-2025-10312bebaa (freeipmi-1.6.15-3.fc43) has been submitted as an update to Fedora 43.

FEDORA-2025-10312bebaa (freeipmi-1.6.15-3.fc43) has been pushed to the Fedora 43 stable repository.

Comment 13 Pavel Cahyna 2025-03-08 21:23:26 UTC
