quantum-espresso failed to build from source in Fedora rawhide/f42 https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/taskinfo?taskID=128102303 For details on the mass rebuild see: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Fedora_42_Mass_Rebuild Please fix quantum-espresso at your earliest convenience and set the bug's status to ASSIGNED when you start fixing it. If the bug remains in NEW state for 8 weeks, quantum-espresso will be orphaned. Before branching of Fedora 43, quantum-espresso will be retired, if it still fails to build. I'm orphaning quantum-espresso https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/devel@lists.fedoraproject.org/thread/OL5YVGZLBBCDCTEPILUIVAHZBKROCS2X/ The spec requires a rewrite to use cmake to use a more recent release, br perl is needed, possibly other things. Susi, are you interested in keeping it alive?
No: I have never used Quantum Espresso and I already don't have enough time even for my existing packages, which I am trying to hand off to others.
@Marcin would you want to pass it to me? I will look into refactoring this @Susi, is one of them pybind11? I would be interested in taking over that if the other co-admins are not.
Cristian, you can fork the repository https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/quantum-espresso and post your progress or questions in a pull request, or here. You could also consider to start from an attempt to build the latest quantum-espresso release instead on the old one, see bug #2093576
Yeah it is easier to start from scratch and re-review the build system. I will make a WIP PR and chip away at it. For now I will bundle a lot of the dependencies, and disable a lot of probably necessary integrations, but most of them seem to have a CMake build system already in place so I should be able to chip away at packaging those as well
This bug appears to have been reported against 'rawhide' during the Fedora Linux 42 development cycle. Changing version to 42.
