According to https://docs.python.org/dev/whatsnew/3.14.html#id3

asyncio policy system is deprecated and will be removed in Python 3.16. In particular, the following classes and functions are deprecated:
asyncio.AbstractEventLoopPolicy
asyncio.DefaultEventLoopPolicy
asyncio.WindowsSelectorEventLoopPolicy
asyncio.WindowsProactorEventLoopPolicy
asyncio.get_event_loop_policy()
asyncio.set_event_loop_policy()
asyncio.set_event_loop()
Users should use asyncio.run() or asyncio.Runner with loop_factory to use the desired event loop implementation.)

For all our attempts to build python-jupyter-events with Python 3.14, see:
https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/coprs/g/python/python3.14/package/python-jupyter-events/

Testing and mass rebuild of packages is happening in copr.
You can follow these instructions to test locally in mock if your package builds with Python 3.14:
https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/coprs/g/python/python3.14/

Let us know here if you have any questions.

Python 3.14 is planned to be included in Fedora 43.
To make that update smoother, we're building Fedora packages with all pre-releases of Python 3.14.
A build failure prevents us from testing all dependent packages (transitive [Build]Requires),
so if this package is required a lot, it's important for us to get it fixed soon.

We'd appreciate help from the people who know this package best,
but if you don't want to work on this now, let us know so we can try to work around it on our side.

Comment 1 Karolina Surma 2025-01-28 14:42:29 UTC
This failure comes from python-pytest-asyncio which doesn't build either (tests error with the same issue as displayed here). Reported upstream: https://github.com/pytest-dev/pytest-asyncio/issues/1025

Comment 2 Aoife Moloney 2025-02-26 13:49:16 UTC
This bug appears to have been reported against 'rawhide' during the Fedora Linux 42 development cycle.
Changing version to 42.

Comment 3 Carl George 🤠 2025-03-04 07:05:48 UTC
Resetting to rawhide as Python 3.14 is targeted at f43.

Comment 4 Elliott Sales de Andrade 2025-08-24 03:54:52 UTC
It looks like upstream fixed this in https://github.com/pytest-dev/pytest-asyncio/pull/1111 which is in 1.0.0; can we update to a current version?

Comment 6 Miro Hrončok 2025-08-26 11:08:43 UTC
Hello. This is a bulk comment.

This package still needs to be rebuilt and/or shipped with Python 3.14.0rc2+ bytecode in Fedora 43.

The Beta Freeze of Fedora 43 is scheduled to start today. Please prioritize this bugzilla accordingly.

Thanks.
