As title says, the logo in GDM is huge with the display set to 125%. Reproducible: Always
Hi, I'm seeing this on my laptop with a 3K display after updating from Fedora 41 to 42 as well. For reference, GNOME uses a 175% scaling by default on the desktop The Fedora logo is large in size compared to plymouth and is very blurry as well, causing the OS and login screen to just look weird... I'm seeing this behaviour with both gdm 47 + gnome-shell 48.alpha AND after both gdm and gnome-shell were updated to 48.beta, but NOT on Fedora with gdm / gnome-shell 47
Ah, seems to be an upstream bug. I'll close this. Thank you :)
Hi, curious to know if this has been reported upstream, and if so, where? I can't find a corresponding bug report on gdm's issue tracker...
Sorry, I had a brainfart and somehow closed this instead of another bug which actually did have upstream bug reports. Reopening.
Proposed as a Freeze Exception for 42-final by Fedora user retrixe using the blocker tracking app because: This bug causes the Fedora login screen to look odd on laptops with high-resolution displays, where fractional scaling is on by default This is a regression from Fedora 41 where the logo looks normal on the login screen, whereas it is blurry and oversized on Fedora 42
+4 in https://pagure.io/fedora-qa/blocker-review/issue/1797 , marking accepted FE.
Can someone affected please upload a picture of the login screen with the oversized logo? To demonstrate how it looks like. Also, if somebody affected can report it upstream [1] and attach a link here, that would be great. Thanks. [1] most probably here: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gdm/-/issues
Created attachment 2081916 [details] Screenshot of issue.

Proposed update doesn't resolve issue - Fedora logo is still as massive as ever on the gdm login screen.
The commit that's intended to fix this bug seems to be slated for gnome-shell 48.1, gnome-shell 48.0 doesn't have the patch
Can confirm that FEDORA-2025-2b6ee63e89 has resolved issue for me.
The recent patch has worked for me as well. However, I have noticed that while the logo is now the right size, it is still slightly pixelated. The spinner and logo on the boot splash screen also have this issue. Maybe a higher resolution image is required? My display is using 150% fractional scaling.
