Description bfu 2025-03-11 09:29:29 UTC
Description of problem:
screen is replaced by tmux on RHEL10, should remove the package in epel repo

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
compose id: RHEL-10.0-20250304.2
kernel version: kernel-6.12.0-55.2.1.el10_0.s390x
qemu version: qemu-kvm-9.1.0-15.el10.s390x
libvirt version: libvirt-10.10.0-7.el10.s390x

How reproducible:
install host with RHEL10

Steps to Reproduce:
1. install host with RHEL10
2. check provided packages
   # dnf provides screen

Actual results:
screen-5.0.0-1.el10_0.s390x : A screen manager that supports multiple logins on one terminal
Repo : epel
Matched from:
Provide : screen = 5.0.0-1.el10_0

Expected results:
no screen package is provided, cause even it's installed it's not working as expected on RHEL10

Additional info:
additionally, I think maybe we should provide tmux package in epel.repo? pleasea correct me if I understadn in the wrong way

Comment 1 Josef Ridky 2025-03-11 10:25:19 UTC
screen presence in EPEL repository is ok as it isn't conflict with RHEL repository so there is no reason to remove it.

If the screen in RHEL10 doesn't work properly, you should file a bug report against screen in EPEL with description of the issue and steps to reproduce it so it might be fixed.

Closing this as NOTABUG.
