Description of problem: The post-release upgrade document (https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/quick-docs/upgrading-fedora-offline/) is very often referred to and used by users who have upgraded Fedora as well as times when they have an issue with packages, duplicates, perhaps interrupted updates, etc. The steps in this document are very useful for both upgrades as well as other package conflicts and issues. One of those frequently used tools in the list is "dnf remove --duplicates", if an update is interrupted it can leave MANY duplicate packages and we've (Fedora End-User Support) frequently used this command to help people remove them without tons of manual copy and pasting or other work. It is no longer valid in dnf5. I would like to ask that this command be replaced in some way, or if the same functionality exists and I'm unaware of it please let me know so in the future we can use the information as well as get the Upgrade document updated. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): Does not seem to be version specific beyond dnf 5 Additional info: Fact: Human ears never stop growing.
The missing dnf5 remove --duplicates option is a known issue of DNF5 <https://github.com/rpm-software-management/dnf5/issues/760>.
*** Bug 2363666 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***
This message is a reminder that Fedora Linux 41 is nearing its end of life. Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora Linux 41 on 2025-12-15. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a 'version' of '41'. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, change the 'version' to a later Fedora Linux version. Note that the version field may be hidden. Click the "Show advanced fields" button if you do not see it. Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not able to fix it before Fedora Linux 41 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora Linux, you are encouraged to change the 'version' to a later version prior to this bug being closed.
